Thursday, 07 April 2011 17:54

WACC Europe will reconsider its purpose and opportunities in the context of communications based on Christian values.

Traditionally, WACC Europe, as part of to the World Association for Christian Communication, is a strong promoter of religious television via its TV-festival, organized once every three years in cooperation with its Roman Catholic counterpart, SIGNIS, the World Catholic Association for Communication. Over the past three years a further initiative was started to network Church communication and media professionals at the decision-making level.

WACC Europe Seminar & Assembly in Frankfurt, Germany – 30 March -  2 April 2010

“Communication and Reconfiguration in Faith, Media, Society and Economy”

The Assembly and Seminar are important events for networking as church and religious communicators. The seminar itself is organized in cooperation with the Press Officers Network of European Churches (PONEC). The discussions will help participants assess the changes affecting their own communication efforts internally and externally. In addition to this networking and dialogue, the seminar will begin drafting a document that will accompany the road that the World Council of Churches and Conference of European Churches are walking towards their assemblies in 2013.

Keynote speakers:

Rev. Karin Achtelstetter, General Secretary, World Association for Christian Communication

Karin Achtelstetter is well known in global communication circles and has been the new General Secretary of the World Association for Christian Communication since November 2010. She came to WACC from The Lutheran World Federation where she was Director of Communication Services and Editor-in-Chief. She is a former Coordinator of the Public Information Team and Media Relations Officer of the World Council of Churches. Achtelstetter has served on both the WACC Europe Steering Committee and the WACC Board of Directors.
